Command & Data Handling
Spacecraft C&DH defines the computational hardware of the system such as processors, memory, I/O connectivity to various subsystems, and informational, spatial, and temporal redundancy mechanisms. The primary C&DH PCB is usually known as the On-Board Computer (OBC), and many commercial OBCs utilized an architecture called System-on-Chip (SoC). These SoC OBCs contain Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) which allow C&DH hardware designers strong flexibility in their architecture choices. ABEX uses SoC architectures in its C&DH subsystem with radiation-hard and COTS memory solutions.
